Alex Bentley

Born on October 27, 1990, in Indiana, Alex Bentley is a basketball player who played in the Women’s National Basketball Association team Atlanta Dream. Her biological father, Albert Bentley, formerly played for the National Football League team Indianapolis Colts from 1985 to 1991.

While attending Ben Davis High School, not only did Alex help the team earn a 30-0 record, but she also won a state championship and the #1 ranking in the Super 25 poll conducted by USA Today. In her senior year, Alex Bentley averaged 15.7 points per game, 2.6 assists per game, 2.2 steals per game, and 3.2 rebounds per game. Thanks to these statistics, she was named in the Third Team Parade Magazine High School All-American.

Attending Penn State College, Alex led the rankings in the Big Ten for steals. Bentley graduated from Penn State with majors in broadcast journalism and minors in sociology. She had 1500 points, 500 assists, and 300 steals, which placed her second in college history and fourth in the Big Ten history. During 2010-11, Bentley became only the eleventh Lady Lion in college history to be honored by the coaches with a first-team All-Big Ten selection. During the 2011-12 season, in her first Big Ten game against Nebraska, Alex scored her career-high eight steals in a game.

Alex Bentley was also in the WNBA and played for Atlanta Dream and Connecticut Sun. Atlanta selected her as the 13th overall pick in the 2013 WNBA draft. As a reserve, Bentley averaged 22 minutes with 8.3 points per game, 1.4 rebounds per game, and 2.8 assists per game in her first regular season for the Atlanta Dream. Then, in 2014, Connecticut Sun acquired Alex Bentley, and she became the starting point guard, averaging 12.2 ppg and a career-high 3.7 assists per game.

During the WNBA off-season, Alex also played for Tarbes Gespe Bigorre basketball club in France, Yakin Dogu in Turkey, the Turkish League’s team Adana ASKi SK, and Russian League’s team Nadezhda Orenburg.
