Angela Weathers

Angela Davidson Weathers is a well-known professional and collegiate player. Born to Jeremy and Leah Poole, Angela has four siblings- David, Amaris, Davina, and Delicia. She completed a BA in Psychology and pursued a second degree in English.

High School:

In her school time at Leesville High School, she was an All-State performer in her junior and senior years. She was selected for the All-District 4-4A team in her junior, senior, and sophomore years. In her senior season, she won the "Most Valuable Player" award. In her senior and junior years, she had an average of double figures in points and rebounds. She scored 22 points,10 rebounds, 10 assists, 5 blocks, and 5 steals as a senior. In addition, she got the second position in the state long jump competition.

Ole Miss:

During 1998-99, she played 11 games for Lady Rebels and had an average of 2.7 points and 1 rebound.

Sophomore:

In 1999-2000, she transferred from the University of Mississippi. Due to a foot stress fracture, she missed Southland games in the middle of the season. However, she returned after healing and got a spot in the All-Southland second team. Moreover, she was selected in the All-Louisiana team for the third time, where she played 24 games, started in 8, and scored 12.5 ppg. She also scored a season-high 19 points against Nicholls State. After that, Angela scored her first double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds against Centenary.

Junior:

In 2001-2002, Angela Weathers was named the Southland Conference Player of the Year, All-SLC, and All-Louisiana. She went on to be the team leader and the top scorer with 16.1 ppg of Lady Demons'. In her leadership, the team managed to achieve a double figure 25 times, including 8 games with more than 20 points each. She made the season's highest record against Tennesee Martin by scoring 29 points. Moreover, she had four double-doubles in the season. The Kansas City Tipoff Club gave her the "Player to Watch" title. In addition, she was one of the 30 seniors selected for the Senior Class Award in the nation.

Angela Weathers had a basketball career full of lessons, so she decided to be a coach of the game. She was the 3rd player to receive the Player of the Year honor in the history of NSU. Weathers was a world champion in the FIBA and National Women's Basketball League ( NWBL). She assisted both the aspiring players and the professional ones to reach their targets. She was included in the Southland Conference 2000s All Decades Women Basketball Team.

Angela Weathers was named the 25-year first fitness nutrition company's retired athlete. She became the first head coach / general manager of Skyline. Weathers was also the first women's head coach to lead a team in the basketball league. Before being a part of NSU, she was given the title of "Southland Conference Player of the Year". Her team, the Leesville native at Fort Polk, was the only female team in the game full of boys.

Her career as a coach started her work in college at Ole Miss before returning to her home state in association with the NSU coach James Smith.

Her inclination towards youth sport was primarily responsible for the path of the Skyline in The Basketball League, which is a 24 team league expanding over nearly the entire country.

After a professional career of two years, she decided to start a non-profit organization that transformed into a Train Up A Champion. As a result, she was the first black female to be a part of the Trocal League which includes four southern European countries, including her team in Macedonia.

Her organization started to help individual skill development. It expanded to train 10 youth basketball teams that competed in regional and national level games. The organization went on to include player representation and avenues like education (not related to sport) and community upliftment activities.
