Early life

Born in Harrow, London, Shittu moved to Canada at five years old. He was born in a family of Nigerian and Caribbean heritage. After spending a few years in Canada, Shittu moved to the United States before his freshman year. The move helped him head start his professional basketball career.

College career

Shittu experienced an underwhelming freshman year. He suffered a meniscus tear in a match against Kent State. Moreover, his draft stock also dropped dramatically during his freshman years. However, Shittu managed to score an average of 10.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. After that season, he declared for the 2019 NBA Draft.

Professional career

Shittu played for the Memphis Grizzlies for the 2019 NBA Summer League. Then he changed his team to Chicago Bulls in October 2019. He was waived from the team in the training camp but later got a position at the Bulls NBA G League affiliate, the Windy City Bulls. Shittu scored a whopping 32 points and 21 rebounds in the season's final game. However, his team lost the match to Canton Charge.

In January 2021, Shittu was included in the Westchester Knicks. He averaged 14.4 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 1.4 assists per game. Then he moved a notch higher and signed a deal with Ironi Ness Ziona of the Israeli Basketball Super League.

When the Westchester Knicks became the G League affiliate to the New York Knicks, they used their affiliate to call the players. As a result, nine players earned direct access to the Knicks. Then the New York Knicks signed Shittu to a two-way contract.

After playing a season at Vanderbilt, in the 2019 NBA Draft, Simisola Shittu went undrafted. In his rookie season, he played for the Windy City Bulls, an affiliate of the Chicago G League. He joined Westchester as a returning player for the 2020-21 season. However, he got an injury and was set on a rotation during the season.

Shittu is a well-built player who uses his strong muscles and physique to score high. The 6'10", the 240-pound centre uses his outstanding abilities to defend and protect the paint. He has a robust ability to anticipate passes and force turnovers. He is a player with immense patience, and this ability is visible in his games. He grabs the steel off the inbounds and then shows great patience before scoring the basket. His playing abilities helped him set records on the grounds, and he recorded a season-high three steals against the Austin Spurs.

Simisola Shittu's understanding of the basketball game has helped him average 14.4 points, 10.1 rebounds, 1.4 assists, and one steals on 55.6% shooting from the field in 13 matches with Westchester. Moreover, he recorded six double-doubles. In addition, he was among the five G League players to average at least 14 points, ten rebounds, and one steal per game.
