The former American football player, Melvin Torrence Bratton, was born on February 2, 1965. Melvin Torrence Bratton is a Miami native who played football for Roger Coffey's Northwestern High School team and was named an All-American. Besides his interest in sports, he was also a dramatic nominee for the Miami Herald Silver Knight Award. During his football career, he was in the running back position, and currently, he acts as a sports agent. Before he leaped into the national championship game at the 1988 Orange Bowl against Oklahoma, he played as a running back at the University of Miami. However, he injured his knee during the game, costing him the Miami Dolphins' NFL draft selection.
Brantton fought back his knee injury and signed up with Denver Broncos in 1989 and played two seasons with them. Unfortunately, his knee injury stood as an obstacle to reaching up to his full athletic potential. Brantton was selected in the seventh round of the 1989 NFL Draft as the 108th overall pick. In his brief career, he carried for 190 yards and four touchdowns on 57 carries. On 39 catches, he also had 345 yards and four touchdowns. He also returned 5 kickoffs for 56 yards at an average of 11.2 yards. Before he retired in the 1990 season, Bratton received one 14-yard pass from John Elway in Super Bowl XXIV, a game the Broncos lost to the San Francisco 49ers 55-10.
The career afterward was a rollercoaster for the footballer. In 1997, he started working as a scout with the Atlanta Falcons. Bratton founded the sportswear company College Throwback after being dismissed from his role as front office coordinator for the Washington Redskins in 2000. You can buy sporting equipment at The College Throwback.
After retiring from football, Bratton began a career as a sports agent. At the moment, Bratton is employed with Vantage Management Group.
