Jordan Alexander Jakes is a highly-touted wide receiver who has transferred to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) in 2021. Jakes is one of five additions to the UNLV program who transferred from Power 5 programs. He is known for his impressive size and will be looking to earn a spot in the rotation during the upcoming fall season.

Early life and career

HJakes is a graduate of St. Frances Academy in Baltimore, Maryland, where he played wide receiver under coach Biff Poggi. He helped St. Frances win the state championship while playing an independent national schedule and was ranked No. 5 nationally by USA Today. Jakes caught six touchdown passes in six games, earning first-team all-metro honors as a senior. He transferred to St. Frances from Eagle's Landing Christian Academy in McDonough, Georgia, for his senior season, where he helped the team to three consecutive state championships. He was a four-year letter winner and never lost a high school game. Jakes was ranked the No. 18 prospect in Maryland by Rivals and also lettered in track and field.

College career

Jakes saw his first collegiate action in 2021 by playing in four games, including making his first start against San Jose State in the seventh game of the season. He caught five passes for 49 yards, with a long of 12 yards. Jakes enrolled in January and competed in spring practice with his new program.

Prior to joining UNLV, Jakes spent two years at Indiana University, a Big Ten school located in Bloomington. However, he did not see any game action for the Hoosiers. In 2020, he did not compete as a redshirt freshman and redshirted the 2019 season. Jordan Jakes played in 4 games during the 2021 season. He recorded 5 receptions for a total of 49 yards and a long reception of 12 yards. Jakes' performance helped the team to achieve a 1-11 record in the season. Jakes' potential is evident from his statistics and it will be interesting to see how he develops as a player in the upcoming season.
